CogBooks offers pre-made, course-complete biology and U.S. history courseware that is adaptive and customizable by instructors. The courseware develops an 18-parameter “learner profile” as students move through questions, and analyzes data on the way whole groups of students interact with it. CogBooks’ cloud-based courseware also includes reporting and analytics and is fully customizable by instructors. Instructors can use the courseware when teaching in fully online or blended formats. The company’s adaptive technology also is available as a course-building platform.
CogBooks’ adaptive functionality considers factors such as learner confidence and self-assessments, time to complete learning exercises, performance on questions, mastery of prior learning objectives, past performance of students with a similar learner profile and elapsed time since last interaction with relevant content. Instructors can add content from outside the courseware, override the grading policies, allow students to skip content that the technology does not think the student has mastered, give individual students different assignments and configure the sequence and content of courses.
