Cashtivity is a project-based learning tool that allows students to learn math and STEM subjects through project-based learning challenges based on current events. It is available for purchase at user-based subscription rates.
APPROACH
Teachers begin using Cashtivity by creating an account, logging in, and entering in student information to create a class. They then browse the ‘Challenge Marketplace’ dashboard to select business-themed project topics such as ‘T-Shirt Business,’ ‘Bakery,’ or ‘Kitchen Garden’ or build their own by filtering for content standards and grade levels. Teachers assign the project to students who then complete it from their profile by collaborating with classmates to complete each directed step, integrated math challenge, and related math or financial questions and create a virtual business. Students can then turn their online business model into a classroom or real-word enterprise.
Teachers monitor student progress and performance through the projects from their reporting dashboard. Based off of student performance, they assign differentiated questions or problem extensions to individual students.
WHO’S USING IT
As of March 2015, over 1,000 students and teachers in over 100 schools are using Cashtivity.
PRICING
A free starter version of Cashtivity is available for teachers with 30 students or less. For unlimited student and group user, a Teacher PRO license costs $10 per month, per teacher, and a School license costs $99 per teacher, annually.
