Career StoryBook is an online program developed for schools, programs, and families. The program involves activities such as narratives, essays, videos, and independent projects, and is based on a mentor-student relationship. Students develop an academic and professional relationship with a chosen mentor, and complete the program self-paced. Career StoryBook is broken into three major sections.
During the onset of the program, students identify their Gifts. Practical Academics defines these Gifts as “what the student believes and knows to be true about themselves: their strengths, personal characteristics, individual style, values, interests, etc.” Students identify their Gifts by completing journal essays from eight different categories. During the second part of the program, students are exposed to a large array of industries, functions, roles, and work, and the necessary skills and knowledge required to succeed in each specific position. Finally in the last part of the program, Career StoryBook organizes workshops to help students explore and identify subjects that are interesting to and reflect the student's’ Gifts. Attention will be given to matching student’s Gifts to potential career action plans.
Career StoryBook is browser-based and mobile optimized. The online program requires Java and Adobe Flash to use.
Career StoryBook costs $5 per user per week. The pricing plan is still in beta as of fall 2015.
