Tool for tracking interactions, progress, and lesson ideas for individual learners

Overview

Brightloop is a free tool that helps teachers track student comprehension according to the CCSS, add notes and lesson ideas for individual students based on their needs, and organize their planners to actually incorporate those personalized lessons into their classroom. Teachers can access Brightloop in a browser on their computer or tablet for free and immediately start adding notes on their students. As of July 9, 2014, Brightloop has beta tested their product with around five schools in New Orleans.

GOALS:

Brightloop helps teachers track student comprehension according to the CCSS, add notes and lesson ideas for individual students based on their needs, and organize their planners to actually incorporate those personalized lessons into their classroom. The product was designed to empower teachers to harness the unique knowledge they have about their students into effective personalized instruction.

APPROACH:

Brightloop is broken into three sections: Collect, Review and Plan. On the “Collect” screem, teachers start by selecting a subject, standard and/or objective and then adding notes, goals or lesson ideas for particular students or groups for that subject. They can also add quick statuses on how their students are doing, keeping track of which students they have checked in with. The “Review” screen allows you to see all of the notes, lesson ideas and check-ins, alongside any goals that you had set for that student. The “Plan” screen shows the teacher their calendar along with all of the individual and group lesson ideas that they had collected. Teachers can drag those lessons onto a particular date and time for each subject. They can also zoom into a day and easily compare which lessons and activities are designed for a group and which are for individual students.

In the upcoming version, teachers will be able to do more organization and planning around different types of groups of students. They will also be able to combine all of the notes, goals and check-ins into reports for parents and school leaders.

IMPLEMENTATION:

Teachers can access Brightloop in a browser on their computer or tablet for free and immediately start adding notes on their students.

PRICING:

Brightloop is currently free for teachers to use. Schools and districts will be able purchase a Brightloop version with premium features for all of their teachers.

WHO IS USING IT:

As of July 9, 2014, Brightloop has beta tested their product with around five schools in New Orleans.
