The BookLeveler Platform uses natural language processing to analyze and recommend books that fit the reading levels of students. It does so by looking at the following: vocabulary complexity, grammar and sentence structure, topic frequency and placement, and others. The platform aims to helps teachers differentiate and individualize the reading experience for students.
As of February 2014, the company, Unbound Concepts, reported that over 40,000 teachers were using the platform.
The company also has a goal of mapping over 500,000 books by 2015.
