Students becoming involved and working independently in a calm and mannerly way.

Product Use: I am not sure what tools to which you are referring, but I do know that the ASCD books have helped me continue with my education, despite having taught 35 + years.

What Worked and What Didn't: What works for me is when I am calm, practice self care, and think ahead of time what is best for students. Today I had a dismal period because I "thought" students would like to do, but turns out that they were really just triggered. I thought they'd love to prepare a bulletin board and inform the test of the students about the Day of the Dead. Instead, I feel I actually triggered some sad things in their lives. They were noisy, noncompliant, and it was a very sad, but educational moment for all of us. Tomorrow we will discuss what really happened in a more academic sense.

Age Group: High school students
