AppStudio allows high school students to learn coding languages JavaScript or BASIC by creating their own smartphones apps without prior knowledge of coding. Students create their app through dragging-and-dropping objects in AppStudio and coding for specific functionalities. AppStudio allows teachers to evaluate AppStudio for free but requires a one-time purchase of $299.95 for a teacher and unlimited students in a single course.
APPROACH
Once AppStudio is installed on the students’ PC/Mac, students can choose to use JavaScript or BASIC to write their own iOS/Android smartphone apps. Students may drag-and-drop objects such as buttons and text boxes onto their app, and write code for those specific objects. Once the app is finished, students may also choose to share their app on the web for others to access.
Teachers may find all AppStudio’s support documentation here. The site includes handbooks, sample code, tutorials for both BASIC and JavaScript and other tech notes.
IMPLEMENTATION
AppStudio is available on Mac and PCs.
