Edtech Companies: Applications Open for LEAP Personalized Learning Pilot Program

Feb 1, 2016

LEAP Innovations, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization transforming learning by connecting education and innovation for teachers and students, has announced it is accepting applications for the third cohort of its Pilot Network program, an initiative that identifies, implements and evaluates personalized learning techniques and edtech products within Chicago schools.

The 2016-2017 school-year pilots will focus on literacy and math innovations for grades K-8. Edtech companies selected to pilot will gain valuable insights and visibility within Chicago Public Schools, including traditional and charter schools, as well as private schools. Chicago schools that partner with LEAP Innovations for the program will receive support as they build and pilot a personalized learning model, incorporating an edtech product vetted by a national panel of experts, and then scale key learnings to other classrooms and schools within their network. Last year, 86 percent of Pilot Network school teams adopted their edtech product after pilots ended.

“At LEAP Innovations, we’re focused on connecting innovation and education to transform the way kids learn,” said Phyllis Lockett, CEO of LEAP Innovations. “Through the Pilot Network, we’re giving Chicago students and their teachers access to innovative edtech tools and personalized learning approaches, as well as providing visibility for school leaders and the district on what really works.”

The LEAP Innovations Pilot Network’s inaugural year in 2014 launched pilots in 15 schools with six literacy products, and continued strong in its second year in 14 schools with eight literacy and math products. Principals and teachers involved in the program receive a semester of professional development and training from LEAP Innovations before pilots begin the following fall. LEAP works with each school to measure student outcomes and growth throughout the program, based on its unique approach to personalized learning.

Edtech company applications close on February 1, 2016. To learn more about LEAP’s Pilot Network program and how companies can apply, please visit: www.leapinnovations.org/leap-pilot-network.
