LEAGUE OF INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS EXPANDS: And then there were 40. The League of Innovative Schools, a professional learning network at a district level that aims to test and evaluate new approaches to education, is growing: Eight additional districts have just joined with the existing 32 members.That means the League includes districts in 24 states, collectively serving nearly 3 million students.
What does that mean for teachers?
Joining the League isn't quite as simply as just paying dues: districts have to apply. Getting in means the district commits to experimenting by:
- Doing rapid and rigorous analysis of what works;
- Breaking down silos and scaling innovation;
- Transforming procurement practices
The new districts are in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Washington, New Jersey and two in California (Riverside Unified and San Jose Unified). Here's an interactive version of the map. The League of Innovative Schools is a project of Digital Promise.
