Degreed Raises $32 Million to Expand ‘Career Mobility’ Platform for Employees

Jun 22, 2020

Degreed, a provider of a corporate education platform for employees, has raised $32 million in a Series C extension round led by Owl Ventures. The Pleasanton, Calif.-based company has now raised $182 million in venture funding to date.

Founded in 2012, Degreed helps employers create career-oriented skill development pathways for their workers. Its platform offers curated educational content in the form of courses, videos and podcasts, along with certificates and credentials that employees can earn.

This funding comes on the heels of a $75 million investment announced last June. At the time, the company said that it had more than 220 corporate customers. New clients include Ford, Fidelity Investments and South Africa’s Standard Bank.

According to the fundraise announcement, most of the new capital from this investment will be used to support its “new Career Mobility product, which connects learning and skills to clear career development.” The idea is to help companies train their workers to fill internal roles. Degreed will also create a transcript-like service that lets employees showcase their competencies and connect with job opportunities.
