Boxlight Acquires Classroom-Response Developer, Qwizdom for $2.5M

Jun 25, 2018

INTO THE BOX: Boxlight Corporation, a producer of interactive hardware displays for the education market, has acquired Qwizdom, the developer of a presentation and classroom response system. The cash, debt and common-stock transaction is valued at roughly $2.5 million, according to a press release.

Founded in 1984, Qwizdom has developed a suite of classroom response software, including a PowerPoint-compatible tool that allow students to respond to questions in class. The company, with offices in Seattle and Northern Ireland, also sells physical clickers and interactive whiteboard software.

This marks the second deal in as many months for Boxlight, a publicly-traded company. In May it acquired Cohuburate, a U.K.-based developer of touchscreen technology, for approximately $1.8 million. In 2016 Boxlight also acquired Mimio and its suite of educational display hardware (which now make up the bulk of its business).
