Examity Secures $21M to Expand Online Proctoring Systems

Mar 2, 2017

PROCTORING PAYS: How do you monitor online tests? With online proctors, of course! Examity, which offers proctoring and identity verification for online testing, has secured a $21 million investment from University Ventures and Inherent Group. According to a press announcement, the funds will be used to expand the company’s online proctoring system, which is currently used at institutions including Texas A&M, Pennsylvania State University and Yale University.

Founded in April 2013 by CEO Michael London, Examity links up with an institution's learning management systems so that students can verify their identity and take exams through their college online portal. Schools—or even specific departments and instructors—can select the kind of monitoring they need, which can range from fully-automated (where webcams detect things like audio or if there’s more than one student is in the room) to human supervision via webcam.
