FACING REALITY: MindShift takes a look at how nascent Augmented Reality and Interactive Storytelling (ARIS) games can bring real life contexts to school subjects that are just a tad too esoteric at times. Mixing games and reality is not new; just ask the dudes at Foursquare. But in edtech? GPS and QR technologies could spark a "place-based learning" movement for subjects like foreign language learning, urban planning, and biology (for those field trips to the zoo). Time to bust out those Google glasses.
