THE TROPHY CASE: Here's one for all the skeptics of edtech. At last week's prestigious SVForum's Launch: Silicon Valley 2012, edtech startup Noodle (announced just last month) was chosen as one of six "Most Likely to Succeed" companies. The only education startup out of 30 finalists selected from over 300 companies boasts a search and recommendation system for education providers from tutors to graduate schools. Smart dude John Katzman, founder of Princeton Review and 2Tor, is behind Noodle. On the other side of the pond, London-based Night Zookeeper, a storytelling and literary website for children, was one of fourteen winners in the hyper-competitive wayraWeek UK, the incubator supported by telecoms giant Telefonica. This marks Night Zookeeper's fourth win at competitions: Startup Weekend EDU, Learning without Frontiers, and Pitch 4.5. (Hat tip to friend Richard Taylor.) And finally, congrats to the Read With Me team, which took top prize in last week's AT&T Mobile Education Hackathon, with an app designed to facilitate reading fluency assessments.
