Blackboard's Buying Spree Continues: X-Ray Analytics Becomes 10th Acquisition Since 2014

Jul 6, 2015

X-RAY ANALYTICS: Blackboard's buying spree continues with the acquisition of X-Ray Analytics, a predictive analytics technology that the Washington, DC-based company says "provides deep insights on learner behavior and identifies trends at course, cross-course and institutional levels." Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The technology will be integrated into two of its popular LMS tools, Moodlerooms and Enterprise Moodle, to "empower teachers with statistically based predictions on likely future behaviors and academic outcomes."

Washington Business Journal reports there are currently over 80 million registered Moodle users, and the deal appears consistent with Blackboard CEO Jay Bhatt's focus on investing in open-source platforms (like Moodle) and international markets.

This marks the tenth deal for Blackboard since January 2014. Here are the other nine:

  • Remote-Learner UK
  • Schoolwires
  • ParentLink
  • Requestec
  • CardSmith
  • Perceptis
  • MyEdu
  • Global Connect
  • Grupo Positivo
