Fleek to all you all educators and yes, even entrepreneurs in Europe: Built around long-time educator Esther Wojcicki’s recent book, Moonshots in Education: Launching Blended Learning in the Classroom, Google is hosting a one-day event at its Amsterdam office on July 21 to do design sprints around ways to help teachers move to 21st century learning methods.
The event is the brainchild of long-time collaborators Wojcicki and James Sanders (who served a stint as a White House fellow in education and helped create the White House Film Festival.)
"The idea is to give kids some control over their learning," Wojcicki says.
"The core of the event will be a series of design sprints focused on designing "moonshot" projects that can be implemented," Sanders told EdSurge. "The hope is that these projects will help transfer ownership of learning to the student, fight against the drill & kill, sit in rows, and take standardized tests that are found too often in classrooms of today."
