'Twas the Night Before EdSurge...

We experienced a holiday miracle of our own just last night--and as usual, EdSurge reporters got to the scene first to give you thoughtful, well-researched coverage of the latest events and news in education technology. Here's hoping 2015 becomes the Year of the Edtech Poem.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all those at EdSurge
Were waiting for presents, quite soon to emerge
Computers were put away, calmly, with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there
We writers were resting our hardworking hands
And thinking how next year to best serve our fans
So wearing our hoodies, emblazoned with green
We all settled down, in a nice Christmas scene
When outside the office, there was such a clatter
We sprang from our seats to see what was the matter
Away to the windows we flew in a dash
Took out our iPhones, and readied the flash
The moon shining out on the Burlingame night
Gave luster of midday to that wondrous sight
For what to our wondering eyes did appear
But a tech-laden sleigh that was driven by reindeer
With a little old driver so lively and quick
We knew in a moment it must be St. Nick
New products for schools he gave as he flew
And he whistled, and shouted, and named as he threw:
"Here's Otus! Here's LightSail! Here's Clever and BrainPOP!
Take Brightloop! Take Pup's Quest! Take Alma and Learnbop!
These products I give will help students each fall
Go educate! Educate! Educate all!"
So all 'round the city to schools they flew
With a sleigh full of Edtech, and old St. Nick too
And then, unexpected, we heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of eight reindeer's hooves
Our hard-writing team was just turning 'round
When in through the door came St. Nick with a bound
He was dressed this year not in the usual red
But in emerald green from his foot to his head
A lightning bolt shone on his little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
Instead of a bundle of toys on his back
He took a slim laptop from out of his sack
And pressing a button to light up the screen
He showed us more products, for kids and for teens.
For students in college, adult learners too
And studies and reports; the list grew and grew.
He still did not speak, but his message was clear,
"I approve of the work that you've done all this year.
But there's more to do if you want to help students
To keep up that work, I'd say, would be prudent.
By working with everyone all 'round the nation
I know that we can improve education!"
Then with a wink, his point underscored
He turned away, making his way to the door
He sprang to his sleigh, and took off in flight
And away then he flew through the Cal'fornian night
But we heard him exclaim, in a voice so affirming,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all happy learning!"
