UPenn to Virtually Train Teachers on Virtual Teaching

Oct 27, 2014

BLENDED VOLTAGE: Properly trained teachers are key to how students learn and benefit from blended learning. To this end, the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education is set to launch its "Virtual Online Teaching Program" (VOLT) in Spring 2015, designed to prepare preK-20 teachers to "teach in online and blended environments." The Hechinger Report caught up with Bobbi Kurshan, executive director of academic innovation and a senior fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, about how to virtually train teachers to deliver virtual instruction. "The certificate is needed because we don’t teach teachers to teach online currently," says Kurshan.
