Apple Claims 85% of U.S. Education Market for Tablets

KEEPING TABS: During Apple's Q3 2014 earnings call, senior VP and CFO Luca Maestri claimed the company has now sold 13 million iPads overall to education customers around the world. (Here's the transcript.) Citing estimates from market research analyst, IDC, he shared that the "iPad remains the tablet of choice with 85% share of the U.S. education tablet market." CEO Tim Cook added that sales of the MacBook Air drove "double-digit growth" for Macs in the K-12 market. Still, he noted that tablet sales in K-12 outpaced Macs 2.5 to 1.
