Gates, Carnegie Foundations Support New Effort for Digital Learning

Jan 27, 2014

DID YOU LEARN? There's a new edtech non-profit in town. On January 21, the Digital Learning Institute (DigiLEARN) was formally announced. True to its name, the organization is set on "increasing personal learning options for students and expanding instructional opportunities for teachers and instructors." In addition, it will also "focus on cultivating an innovative economy for education technology start-ups and entrepreneurs." DigiLEARN will be chaired by former North Carolina governor, Beverly Perdue; former Wyoming governor Jim Geringer will be vice chair. Newsobserver.com reports DigiLEARN is supported by $450K in grants from the Gates and Carnegie foundations.
