EdSurge Summit Heads to Baltimore

Gooooood morning, Baltimore!

In conjunction with an awesome coalition of educators in Baltimore, EdSurge is thrilled to announce that we will be bringing an EdSurge Tech for Schools Summit to Baltimore on February 22.

UPDATE: The event will be held at the Baltimore Four Seasons hotel.

Headliner: Jim Shelton, Deputy Secretary of Education, will be our keynote speaker.

We aim to make this event a special moment for educators from the Baltimore region to have a chance to tire-kick some of the latest and most innovative software and technology available to support learning.

The event follows in a tradition that began in 2013 in Chicago, where the Education Technology Startup Collaborative showed how teachers and techies can collaborate and create common ground. Rhode Island’s Department of Education and the Highlander Institute did something similar on October 5. Next the fun came to Silicon Valley in November at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.

Now it’s Baltimore’s turn. Co-sponsors for this event are the Baltimore Education Innovation Consortium, the Baltimore City Public Schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools and the Maryland Society for Educational Technology (MSET).

Most important: The heart of this event is about dialogue—a time for educators and entrepreneurs to share what works and what they need. We'll always treasure the words of educators such as Eileen Craviotto of Peabody Charter School, who said: "I have been teaching for 24 years and it was the first conference I have gone to that I really felt the spirit of collaboration between the companies and the teachers!"

Best of all: the event is free for all full-time educators.

Here are the key details.

Entrepreneurs:

Educators: This is all about you. The event is totally free for full-time educators. Please RSVP here, however, to make sure you have a spot.

We will be sharing all the gory details about the event (including the venue in Baltimore and our awesome keynote speaker) in the coming days. But time is short. To help you make your plans, we wanted to start sharing details about the event with you now.

Join us in Baltimore, Fatti maschii, parole femine! Home of strong deeds, gentle words—and we would add, passionate learners and educators.

See you at the Four Seasons!
