Desire2Learn Unveils New Tools to 'Integrated Learning Platform'

Oct 8, 2013

MORE THAN A LMS: After a bit of a spending spree, it's all coming together for Desire2Learn. On Tuesday the company announced a new "Integrated Learning Platform" that leverages new technologies developed in-house and acquired from others. The press release outlines new features like communication tools, ePortfolios, and a "Binder Shop" with tens of thousands of titles from the likes of Cengage and McGraw-Hill. The biggest feature may be allowing schools to run their own MOOCs. Dozens of schools, from Michigan State University to the University of Tazmania, have already offered MOOCs on the platform, CEO and president John Baker shared with EdSurge. "We're more than an LMS," he says. "I dislike that term because it only covers a small segment of what we do."
