What Do Race to the Top Recipients Have in Common?

Sep 8, 2013

BACK TO THE RACES: The American Institute of Research (AIR) has issued a new report examining what the last 16 recipients of last May's Race to the Top grants (RTT-D) have in common. Among the themes explored:

  • Blended Learning Environments
  • Individualized College and Career Readiness Learning Plans
  • Competency-Based Models
  • Engaging and Empowering Key Stakeholder Groups

The AIR reports highlights opportunities and challenges around "unbundling" instruction in the development of digital learning platforms, especially to align with Common Core blended initiatives.

The race continues as RTT-D opens up for a new round of proposals due this October and will be announced in December. The grants in this round will total $120 million.
