Local Tutoring Marketplace Closes Shop

Sep 8, 2013

TUTORSPREE is shutting down, as TechCrunch noted. The graduate from YCombinator's Winter 2011 cohort offered an online marketplace where students can find local private tutors and schedule in-person sessions. Here's the founders' farewell note in the company blog. In an email to TechCrunch, Tutorspree CEO admitted that the team of ten "realized it would not scale in a way that would meet our goals. It was a tough decision emotionally, but it was the right move from the rational perspective." Tutorspree had raised a total of $1.8 million, with the most recent round in February 2013.
