Code.org Wants to Help Everyone Learn to Code

Jan 23, 2013

GOT CODE? To anyone who has dabbled in the technology world, learning to code is as basic as learning your A, B, C's, or counting from 1 to 100. Now twin brothers, Ali and Hadi Partovi, both of whom are successful entrepreneurs and investors, want to help kids everywhere learn to code. They hope to encourage teachers all over the US to offer more computer programming to middle school and high school students through a nonprofit, Code.org. Where to start? The Partovis figured that the best place was by letting students know where classes already exist. As a result, Code.org is building a database of classes that teach programming--including high school, college or even weekend camp classes for kids. (Know of a class? Log it in!) Expect to hear more from this dynamic duo: with the help of Leslie Chilcott, (who did An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman, and others) they're finishing up a slick video featuring some big stars (just guess) raving about the power and the fun of programming. Coming to a classroom near you?
