SIIA Report: PreK-12 Edtech Spending Up 3.5% in 2011

Dec 24, 2012

MONEY FLOWS: Edtech spending on non-hardware products and services grew by 3.5 percent last year, from $7.5 billion in 2010 to $7.76 billion in 2011, according to a recent report from the SIIA. Based on anonymous sales information from 105 vendors, the report saw large increases in spending on instructional support (testing, assessment, and PD) and platforms and administration increased by 12% and 17%, respectively, while content revenue dipped 2%. The executive summary (PDF) offers a teaser for the full report, which at $1500 is probably out of most startup's price range. Fortunately, SIIA will likely offer opportunities for companies to participate in next year's survey in return for a free copy.
