The WIDA Standards Resource Developer is located within the Educator Learning, Research, and Practice (ELRP) department and will report to the WIDA Assistant Director of Standards. This position will be responsible for the development and creation of professional learning content and standards implementation resources across WIDA's programs. The Standards Resource Developer will primarily serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating cross-functionally with researchers and learning experience designers to 1) design content that supports K-12 educators of multilingual learners; 2) maintain a close connection to current research and trends in the field of language acquisition and instructional practices that support multilingual learners 3) incorporate research-based updates to the standards frameworks and their associated resources, and 4) work towards the integration of Spanish Language Development (SLD) and English Language Development (ELD) content.
This position will be eligible for fully remote work as assigned by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A successful candidate will have the ability to work from home or an alternate office location as the position's Headquarters Location. This means that business travel and travel back to UW-Madison's campus would be compensated and eligible for reimbursement. WIDA operates in a Windows-based environment and a Dell PC laptop will be issued for use in this role. Software and virtual connection tools that are critical to our work dictate that WIDA staff work on a PC.RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supplemental instruction for students enrolled in classroom, online, and/or laboratory course(s), and assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning and promote high-impact practices.
*40% Works to develop and/or design curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction within that discipline
*10% Assesses learner performance and may prepare reports recommending instructional improvements
*25% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and may train other staff in use of said instructional techniques
*15% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties
*5% May participate in strategic planning and grant proposals for instructional development, new teaching methods, and program direction
*5% Represent WIDA at conferences and other events as required
EDUCATION: RequiredBachelor's Degree in education or similar field
PreferredMaster's Degree
QUALIFICATIONS: Required*Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish.*Minimum 2 years of experience in curriculum development and/or development and alignment of standards, preferably in K-12 or similar educational settings.*Experience developing content to support educators.*Teaching experience in preK-12 environments serving multilingual learners, preferably within the US education system.*Demonstrated knowledge of the field of second language acquisition, including the use of English language development (ELD) and Spanish language development (SLD) standards, the role of academic language in content learning, and research-based instructional practices.*Effective writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences and contexts.*Proficiency in using digital tools for coordinating workflow and documenting plans and outcomes.*Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and manage workload to meet outside deadlines and expectations.
Preferred*Familiarity with the WIDA English Language Development (ELD) and Spanish Language Development (SLD) standards.*ESL and/or Bilingual Education license or endorsement and/or world language certification.*Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL), andragogy/adult learning theory, or accessibility in design.
SALARY: $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months). Depending on Qualifications.
