VP of Platform Expansion at AltSchool

As AltSchool embarks on its next phase of growth, it is looking for a senior leader to help shape and drive its expansion strategy and execution. The VP of Platform Expansion will be responsible for bringing AltSchool’s platform of technology and services to partners, building new business lines, and driving profitable expansion. This person will also be responsible for working closely with the corporate leadership team, building his/her own team, and leading a cross-functional Platform Expansion team to drive new revenue opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and team leadership skills, a strong background in driving business-to-business and business-to-business-to-consumer product lines and services, a bias toward action, and a commitment to and understanding of the K-8 education space.


Create and successfully launch new business lines within AltSchool, leveraging resources within the company

Lead market analysis, competitive review, strategy, value proposition definition, and go-to-market strategy + tactics, including sequencing entry of different products and services across customer segments

Oversee the roadmap for Platform Expansion and ensure the team delivers on quality products/services to enable a transformative, rapidly scaling business with high customer retention

Build the team to scale and support the new business lines

Engage cross-functional stakeholders and internal technical, operational, and corporate teams to align on goals and implementation for AltSchool’s platform strategy

Drive timelines, budgets, quality service and revenue for the Expansion team

Drive P&L responsibilities for all business lines offering AltSchool’s tools and services

Contribute to AltSchool’s mission and direction as a whole


The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

MBA or JD preferred

Experience with B2B, B2B2C tech and services business at scale, with direct responsibility for business line oversight, including product development and profitability

5+ years in a startup environment preferred, including oversight of business lines and product/service offerings

Experience working in or partnering with public and private education entities strongly preferred

Excellence in scaling new business lines at a similar-stage startup, social enterprise, or education service provider and leading to scale across multiple geographies and contexts

A proven track record of cross-functional leadership, including previous success in managing teams to define new products, generate business, and retain customers

Significant and extended experience across a diverse range of companies, ideally including nonprofit and for-profit, in different stages of growth

Comfort switching between high-level business objectives and hands-on day-to-day execution

Ability to rapidly come up to speed and self-educate on key trends, drivers, and players for new subject matter contexts
