The Organization

Imagine if adolescent education was designed for all students to develop lives of meaning and purpose? In 2015 Project Wayfinder was founded at the Stanford d.school to answer this call. With our fifth academic year upon us, our toolkits + trainings have journeyed to over 20,000 students, 1000 teachers, 200 schools across 25 states and 20 countries.

The Role

Wayfinder’s VP of Operations owns all Operational functions of the organization to make sure we have an effective and efficient means of delivering our product, and a pathway to achieve it. We are a quickly growing company that is doubling revenue, product offerings, and staff size, year over year - we need someone that can lead us to scale quickly. This also means you’ll be doing the hard stuff when things aren’t working, then identifying hurdles and adapting fast. This role reports directly to the CEO.

  • Streamline, integrate, and adapt our operations as we double our schools each year over the coming years
  • Work closely with existing Director of Operations and HR to improve processes at Wayfinder
  • Oversee and direct a consultant to program integrations across existing platforms: Salesforce, Quickbooks, Docusign, printing company
  • Improve order fulfillment and delivery processes of digital and hardcopy product
  • Support existing systems and make updates and improvements to Salesforce, pull reports, enter data, etc.
  • Scale all SaaS products as the company grows
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems
  • Collaborate with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization's goals and objectives
  • Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects
  • Establishes and administers the department budget
  • Present reports and metrics to the chief executive officer and other leadership
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management
  • Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Essential experience

  • Minimum of 5-10 years managing Ops at a fast growing organization
  • Proven ability to emotionally and effectively grow operations. You have to have done this before at another quickly growing start-up to be considered for this position.
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports in Operations
  • Experience scaling a company’s SaaS business operations
  • Technical Skills: Salesforce, Gsuite, Slack, Trello, Quickbooks, Docusign, Workable
  • Expertise working with a remote team
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with an ability to communicate simply and effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding time-management skills and experience working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a bias towards action

Preferred experience

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Prior experience in EdTech, SaaS, and/or K-12 education a helpful benefit

Remote work. This role is remote, but requires you to be available for calls for at least 4 hours between 9am-5pm US Central Time. As such this role can be anywhere where you can commit to working half the day to overlap with that timezone, and will not require relocation once COVID is over.
