EdConnective’s mission is to ensure student success through transformative teacher training. We believe “School 1.0” is that every student has a teacher, but that “School 2.0” is where every teacher has support from a high-quality and effective coach. Are you that coach? EdConnective coaches are experienced classroom teachers with the ability to communicate actionable strategies for growth, while building positive rapport with partner teachers. Coaches observe classrooms and meet virtually with teachers from all across the country. We support our coaches with coaching and in-depth training, providing specific feedback on and practice with how to grow as a coach.
Our coaching partnerships are centered around students, with goals that focus on student outcomes first and foremost. We believe good coaching should be data-driven and practice-based.
Coaches observe and meet with teachers virtually for short, intensive partnerships and focus on growth in student outcomes. First, coaches are connected with teachers through EdConnective based on grade level/content preferences, time-of-day availability, and years of experience. Once matched, coaches are responsible for facilitating a 30-minute Intro Session with teachers to get to know each other, understand the teachers’ context, agree on coaching logistics, and determine the teacher’s goals for the partnership. Then, teachers upload and share a 20-minute recording of their lesson, which is followed by a 30-minute coaching meeting in which the coach provides a “glow” area to celebrate, a “grow” with specific strategies for improvement, and opportunities to practice right there in the meeting. Typically, this cycle of observation and meeting happens once a week, but depending on the agreement, teachers may meet with coaches twice a week. Typical coaching partnerships involve 8 meetings and typically last 8 - 14 weeks. Each teacher partnership usually involves 1 - 2 hours of work per week.
In addition to being able to coach teachers, we are looking for applicants who would be able to coach administrators and instructional coaches, as well as coach teachers in partnerships that are focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Currently, we are only seeking coaches with the capacity to take on 8-15 partnerships or more at a time. This would mean approximately 12 -18+ hours of work per week. As our work is dependent on the demand of our clients, we cannot guarantee you a minimum number of hours at any given time and coaches do not work over the summer from June to August. In addition to the summer, there also might be times when you are not executing any coaching.
Because our training and support process is fairly extensive, we are seeing coaches who have the ability to make a 2 year commitment to this role.
All of our coaches are also coached on their coaching and receive support with questions or challenges that may come up in their coaching partnerships. While we do encourage coaches to draw on their wealth of experience as educators, coaches, or in other roles in education, we expect coaches to use the EdConnective model of coaching, which is student-centered, data-driven, practice-oriented, and coach-directed.
