ANet worksalongside leadership teams in schools and systems to deliverequitable instruction, and the VP,Product is responsible for designing and executing on a producttechnology strategy that best supports our instructional products.Our suite of products and services include school and systemcoaching, professional learning and standards-based assessments andresources. ANet has several platforms that enable equitableinstruction which the VP will support including:

  • MyANet is ateacher- and leader-facing web application that provides interimassessment data reports, standards-based resources, and a portal tosupport online test administration.
  • OurAssessment Delivery System enables students to take onlineassessments and quizzes.
  • Our QuizTool is built to enable teachers to create short-cycleassessments.
  • Internalapplications include an Assessment Development Tool used by ourinternal content team and a Roster Tool used by our Operations teamto support assessment administration and datareporting.
  • We alsoleverage Tableau and a data warehouse to support additionalreporting products.

The VP willoversee the creation and execution of a long-term producttechnology roadmap, manage research into new technology-enabledproduct offerings, recommend technology strategy that maximizesresources and impact and meets the needs of partners, and leadrelationships with technology building block vendors. Reporting tothe Chief Program Officer, the VP will ensure that our approach toproduct technology strategy is sound, coherent and mission-alignedand will manage a Product Management team to support theseendeavors.


Develop and lead a clear vision and strategy for the futuredirection of ANet's product technology

  • In closecoordination with the Product Steering Committee,setthe producttechnology vision in support of our overall vision for ourinstructional content products (assessments,reports, resources, etc)
  • Design andmanage the research process and roadmap decisions that enable ourtechnology to deliver strong instructional products that supportteaching and learning in schools
  • Setstrategicdirection of our technologyincludingidentifying whento usethird-party vendors, integrate with other technologiesand/oradopt new technical frameworks
  • Seek outinnovative solutions that deliver on needs of our product andservice offerings
  • Ensure backend and user technological coherence and efficiency withinourmany products
  • Developphilosophy and approach to requirement prioritization and lead teamto strategic conclusions
  • Keep up todate on the shifts in the EdTech competitive landscape to ensureANet is leveraging the best technologies possible to reach ourmission

Manage a Product Management Team to:

  • Collaboratewith stakeholders and/or users to shape the strategy and executionof producttechnology
  • Execute onthe roadmap including facilitating conversations with stakeholdersand delivering actionable requirements to engineers
  • Ensureclear and agreed upon acceptance criteria and test cases are inplace
  • Decide,simplify and manage use of our internal tools for informationcollection, sharing and progress monitoring relative to productbuilding
  • Decide thesequence to build technology thatmaximizes resources and outcomes
  • Activelymonitor progress and elevate opportunities and risks for broaderdecision making
  • Ensure wehave coherent and accurate internal documentation of project planwith dependencies, roadmap, features and backlog
  • Manageprocess of backlog grooming
  • Incollaboration with engineering leadership, recommendallocationof engineering resources givenknowledge of priorities, capacity and requirements
  • Obsess overgreat user experience and ensure technology is intuitive andimpactful for students,teachersand leaders
  • Supportcommunication, training and marketing of ourproducts to network teams and users

Build, develop, and retain a high-performing and highly engagedteam

  • Manage askilled and diverse team with a positive, inclusive culture thatbrings out each team member's strengths and that aligns to ANet'smission and core values
  • Developteam members to continuously improve by providing high impactfeedback and coaching; manage towards excellence in their roleswhile being committed to their long-term development
  • Ensure thatcross-teamcommunication, structures and coordination are smooth, efficientand values aligned
  • Manage ateam budget and resourceallocation to balancelimited resources with maximum impact

In order to be successful in this role, candidatesmust demonstrate the following:

  • You havepreviously designed and led product strategy within the educationor EdTech spaces, ideally for teacher- or leader-facing products,and managed teams around productmanagement and product development
  • Yourexceptional judgment and strategic thinking, particularly aroundresource tradeoffs, has helped you define products, design productroadmaps and deliver organizational value through productdevelopment in the past
  • You are anexceptionalcommunicator who can translate technology, product, and serviceneeds to business owners and technologists (e.g. “you speakboth languages”)
  • Youhavea proven track record of building and managing great teams withsuccess in developing a strategic vision and leading your teamtowards outcomes while fostering a positive, inclusive teamculture
  • You havebeen the lead on complex, cross-functional, and collaborativeprojects with aggressive timelines
  • You areknowledgeable about online assessment creation and deliverytechnology, platforms, and best practices
  • Youunderstand software development life-cycles and best practices andbring experience leveraging usage data to inform UI design andprioritization and experience with Agile ProductManagement

ANet offershighly competitive compensation based on prior experience andqualifications as well as comprehensive benefits in order to bestsupport our people.
