Our Mission

Goalbook’s mission is to empower teachers to transform instruction so that ALL students can succeed. We are currently a team of 35 people and we partner with 500 districts across 45 states, working closely with district and school leaders to improve instructional practice. Goalbook was founded in 2011 by Daniel Jhin Yoo and Justin Su. Goalbook was a member of YC Edtech’s first cohort and the first investment made in Reach Capital’s Seed Fund.

Who We’re Looking For

This role oversees the revenue-generating functions of sales, customer success, services, and support. We’re not looking for the typical VP of Sales. Rather, we are looking for a different kind of business leadership, one that is focused on people and organizational development. You will help develop our Partnerships and Success team leads and prepare each manager for company growth, scale, and complexity. You will continuously refine our people processes and systems that maintain the strength of our team culture and promote our core values of relationships, growth, and diversity.

The ideal candidate will have managed and grown a small team to 100 people. You will have managed revenue growth from small to $50M annually. While experience in K-12 education technology is highly desirable, we are open to people from other fields. Enterprise sales experience is required. You can grow a company while instilling and sustaining a culture where impact and responsible growth are core tenets of strategy.

This is not the typical leadership role. As a company, we have often sacrificed maximum growth in a deliberate effort to grow responsibly. We expect the VP to fully embrace our mindset around balancing impact, team culture, profitability, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships of trust and coach the Partnerships and Success team leads. Communicate critical feedback and ensure continuous growth for each manager
  • Establish policies, processes, communication, and collaboration to strengthen team culture as the company scales and grows. Proactively shape team culture to maintain alignment with the company’s core values
  • Contribute to human capital needs for the business team, including development of transparent systems of hiring/firing, performance evaluation, compensation, role evolution and individual growth. Assist with the challenge of increasing the diversity of our teams so that we can better represent and understand the different communities that our public school system serves across the country
  • Refine and update the business plan that articulates how we improve in various streams of work. Ensure that everyone, not just managers, on both teams understand the plan and how they individually contribute to its progress
  • Maintain a steady focus on results. Track performance against key metrics, including new sales, renewal rates, new hires, employee retention, and analytics specific to each team
