Vice President of Growth and Business Development

Yay Lunch - Multiple Locations or Remote - Full time

Yay Lunch is a venture-backed startup on a mission to empower local communities through real food, made fresh daily. We are starting with kids, delivering healthy lunches to over a 100 schools each day and growing quickly. We don’t make food ourselves but rather work with local restaurants and caterers in each market to curate a selection of meals kids (and faculty) love. Families order online, our vendors produce the food and we deliver fresh lunches to institutions daily.

Since launching in 2018, we have expanded rapidly. We currently operate in the DC Metro area; Baltimore, Maryland; Richmond, Norfolk and Charlottesville, Virginia, Atlanta, Georgia; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We have aggressive growth plans backed by experienced venture capital partners, and we are excited about becoming a household name imminently.

We’re a startup which means we are agile, outgoing, quick on our feet, and eternally positive. We are a remote and distributed company, so we are open to new team members working remotely. You will need to reside in the following metro areas: DC Metro, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York Metro, or Chicago. In this role, we would expect there to be up to 50% travel to establish relationships in our current and prospective markets.

About the Role: As the Vice President of Growth, you will be responsible for establishing the strategy and executing a plan to increase the number and depth of institutional relationships in our existing markets. In addition, you will work with the leadership team to identify and develop plans to enter new markets and new channels. You will manage and develop our Growth Team, with responsibility for hiring, onboarding, and coaching team members. You will be an active member of the Leadership Team and will be responsible for and provide input into general business success criteria and strategic direction. You will also be called on to present to our Board of Directors and be available to support strategic discussions with external partners in the investment community, as needed.

In this role, you will:

Develop a national growth strategy, including market assessment, prioritization, entry strategy, and execution plans.

Work cohesively with other Leadership Team members, including Marketing, Merchandising, and Operations, to ensure our growth agenda is executed well.

Establish a channel strategy to differentiate our messages and tactics based on the specific situation of our prospective partners.

Provide insight and recommendations on the strategic direction of Yay Lunch as a member of the leadership team.

Achieve quarterly and annual growth targets.

To qualify for this role, you must have:

Experience managing a rapidly growing business with geographic and channel expansion as part of the remit

Business development / strategic planning experience

Excellent record of hiring, training, and developing sales teams

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desire and energy to craft and execute a national strategy

Proficiency working with and leading teams in diverse geographies

Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally

10+ years of sales experience, with 5+ years of sales leadership

Experience working with schools highly beneficial

Experience working in a start-up environment a plus

A strong communicator, able to discuss your strategy at the Board level as well as with front line team members

A creative problem solver, who can be clear-headed under pressure

Excited to travel – to work with your team, to work with the Leadership Team, and to develop relationships for market expansion
