OPPORTUNITY:

Green Dot is looking for a leader with the energy and skills to lead and develop the operations team. The home office operations team supports school teams and ensures school leaders can focus on instructional leadership. The Vice President of Operations will drive operational sustainability by ensuring that Green Dot CA schools operate in an efficient and effective manner in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The Vice President of Operations will manage a team responsible for procurement, food service, transportation, school support and other shared services and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, strong manager, creative problem solver and have a successful track record of improving processes and systems. The Vice President of Operations must be a consummate team player and have a sincere commitment to serving low-income students.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

>Manage, coach and provide strategic direction to a team of professionals including school-site operations leads (4-5 Cluster Business Managers) and a shared services team (an Operations Analyst, an Operations Manager, and the Procurement Manager)

o Lead the Cluster Business Managers in supporting school leaders in the operation and management of their schools (budgeting and forecasting, school site operations team coaching, facilities, recruitment) so that school leaders can focus on instruction

o Work with the Operations Analyst to ensure that school services (School Nutrition Program, transportation, copiers, TDAP, etc.) are high quality, cost effective and compliant with local, state and federal regulations

o Support the Operations Manager in implementing the School Nutrition Program, Transportation and ensuring operational excellence at every school

o Lead strategic purchasing efforts and support the Procurement Manager in the oversight of Green Dot liability insurance, contract management and negotiations, vendor relationships, textbook asset management, and central purchasing

o Lead cost reduction initiatives by evaluating vendors, contracts and procurement processes

>Coordinate and align the shared service team and the school site coaching team to support a shared set of priorities across the operations team

> Improving services to schools (food, transportation, security, janitorial, etc.). Key priorities include:

o Defining a long term plan to provide superior service in all areas within a limited budget

o Setting service level agreements and redesigning processes to consistently deliver on commitments

o Analyzing and communicating school operations performance metrics to key stakeholders and identifying and leading strategic projects that improve the efficiency of school operations

o Working with the team to build tools, templates, processes and procedures that improve the core operations of Green Dot schools

>Oversee differentiated training for school operations staff

>Partner with the Chief Operating Officer and the National Expansion Operations team to spread best practices and efficiencies across Green Dot regions

>Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer on liability insurance—related decisions

>Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer on special projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or MPA preferred

>10+ years’ experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical professional environment. Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience managing school operations; charter school experience highly preferred

>5+ years’ experience managing others in a professional environment

>Intelligent, driven self-starter with a demonstrated track record of success in developing and executing on a long-term, multi-tiered strategy

>Ability to develop systems to build capacity and structure

>Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship-building skills

>Excellent written and oral communication skills

>Experience designing and facilitating differentiated professional development sessions

>Ability to build collaborative, coordinated, and supportive relationships

>Ability to impact and influence stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization

>Demonstrates flexibility and innovation when faced with ambiguity

>Demonstrates creative problem solving skills

>Strong financial acumen

>Tenacity and a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve our mission

COMPENSATION:

Salary for this position will be within a range of $125,000 - $155,000 and depend on prior experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits plan as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of all students.
