Overview

All Learners Network is looking for an experienced sales and marketing leader to join our team. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer. You should possess a track record of improving sales processes, closing deals, effectively managing pipeline, and hitting revenue goals. 

Our sales organization is mission first, deal second. The ALN sales culture is not one of “elevator pitches” and intentional disguising of information - we pride ourselves on transparency, honesty, and integrity within our communications and processes. Collaboration with our other departments is key in understanding updates to our approach, math content, and more. The right person for this job embraces this wide understanding of our organization and uses it to further their skill in discussing the right options and opportunities with our customers.Our marketing organization is built on a rapid cycle of inquiry, like many of our internal processes. We are continually refining our approach through testing, evaluation of results, and changing based on the data. Our VP of Marketing & Sales should be comfortable in loose brainstorming environments but also be willing to dig into data to uncover useful trends. 

We are looking for someone interested in our approach to instruction. Someone who can learn to speak the language of teachers and administrators alike. An interest in the work we do is key, because we integrate our mission into sales conversations at all times. Schools must know how our work can impact their staff and their students. Our VP of Marketing & Sales will be expected to navigate the pressure of a cyclical sales cycle that is driven by public policy choices and school budget cycles. ALN is looking for an individual who can both bring new ideas to the table and a steady leadership presence through the ups and downs of revenue generation. They will also collaborate closely with the CEO and COO to ensure sales and marketing are matching the larger vision of the organization. 

Working Location Note: In-person and hybrid work is preferred, but we are open to fully remote for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the ALN mission and vision at the highest level
  • Create revenue projections based on company vision and reasonable outcomes
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure stability of organization
  • Steward ALN forward as we grow
  • Share key reports at the Admin level
  • Manage and supervise the sales and marketing teams
  • Present sales and marketing strategies and reports at quarterly board meetings
  • Support in creation and presentation of updates in Company All-Hands meetings
  • Be accountable for pipeline coverage and management
  • Be accountable for marketing goals, such as traffic, lead generation, MQL generation, and more
  • Lead sales team in achieving revenue goals
  • Support sales calls as needed
  • Improve sales processes based on experience and opportunities
  • Ensure quality of sales conversations that do not compromise our mission
  • Maintain a culture of creativity and collaboration rather than competition in sales

What We Are Looking For:

  • 10+ years in sales and sales leadership
  • Experience in selling environments directly related to education or closely related toeducation, such as EdTech
  • Familiarity with grant/federal/state funding sources
  • Comfort with variable compensation
  • Deep experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Experience in previous “closing” sales roles, prior to managing
  • Experience in growing, maintaining and managing pipeline
  • Proven track record of sales success
    • Please be ready to share close rates, growth rates, and stories about your sales approach
  • Interest in a “startup” environment that is looking to grow to a national player in the Math Education space
  • Ability to people manage for longevity of employees
  • Skill in collaboration with both other leaders and direct reports
  • Drive to improve people and processes

Salary range:

Annual base pay: $100,000-130,000 (final offer subject to candidate experience).

Variable Pay: On-target earnings of an additional $40,000 for annual attainment of company revenue goals. Potential to exceed this incentive pay exists if company goals are exceeded. More details are provided in the interview process. 

Benefits:

Final offers for this position will be based on capabilities. The ALN benefits package includes unlimited responsible time off, paid holiday including a 1-week winter holiday company closure, individual/family-provided medical coverage effective on the first day of employment, HSA options (dependent on medical plan selection), Simple IRA retirement match, professional development funds, and short/long-term disability.
