Vice President of Leadership Development

Job Summary

We seek a VP of Leadership Development to join our fun, passionate, and dedicated team. You have founded and managed a public charter school in the Los Angeles region and have an incredible enthusiasm for identifying and developing others who aspire to go down that same path. You will design, facilitate, and deliver Reframe programming to aspiring school leaders (in collaboration with the team), as well as lead Reframe’s recruitment efforts.

Responsibilities and Duties

Your specific mix of responsibilities will evolve over time but will initially include:

  • Program Design and Implementation (45%)
    • Design Reframe’s leadership development programming
    • Lead sessions and workshops on race, equity, and community engagement; instructional leadership and school culture; people and resource management; and next-generation learning
    • Foster a fun community of practice for program participants
  • Recruitment, Selection, and Development (35%)
    • Identify leaders with the interest and skills to launch incredible new schools
    • Host events that bring together and cultivate school launch prospects
    • Manage recruitment and selection process through Beta Lab and Delta Lab performance tasks
    • Devise creative new ways to learn about candidates’ mindsets and commitment
  • Thought Leadership (20%)
    • Constantly find improvements in internal actions and practices
    • Codify and share lessons learned with the rest of the field
    • Be current on leading challenges, issues, new thinking and personalities in the education sector that are relevant to achieving Reframe’s mission
    • Create content for social media distribution

This role is based in Los Angeles. Most of our programs and events occur on evenings and weekends to accommodate the schedules of educators who are exploring school launch (i.e. we are side-hustler friendly). We estimate 5-10% travel requirements outside of Los Angeles for school visits, conferences, and other learning excursions/opportunities.

  • Founded and led a public charter school with distinction.
  • A love for coaching and developing adults at different levels of practice; a workshop facilitator extraordinaire!
  • A deep professional network with education organizations throughout Los Angeles County.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong program management and design thinking skills.
  • A hyper-focus on execution and follow-through.
  • Personal presence and communication skills to represent Reframe in diverse forums and organizational relationships
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to improving public education, to diversity & inclusiveness, and to finding creative ways to improve upon traditional structures.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and own high-priority tasks and projects with minimal guidance and support.
  • Working style suited to thriving in a small-office setting with limited support staff, where teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued.
