UX and Visual Designer

Pathstream - San Francisco, California or Remote - Full time

At Pathstream, we are on a mission to create radical impact on career and economic mobility, through high quality and accessible career-focused education. To do so, we are building an online platform which teaches job-critical tech skills, and completely changes the nature of the online learning experience. Whereas most online learning consists of passive video lectures, Pathstream users learn and build career skills within actual software platforms that are authentically used on the job, ensuring they are ready to perform in a real work environment. Throughout the courses, users build a portfolio which demonstrates their skills and ultimately earn a certification from the relevant software platform company, both of which ensure that their efforts translate into actual career mobility.

We are building courses for our first two major clients, Facebook on Digital Marketing and Unity on VR/AR. We are additionally establishing partnerships with 25 colleges across the country to ensure these courses and skills are accessible to traditional learners as well as working adults.

We are seeking a UX/UI Designer to oversee visual interface and user experience on our education platform. You will partner with key team members to concept, design and execute UI features in accordance with your UX recommendations for our web-based product.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the UI/UX/Visual Design work across our company, including our online learning experiences, tech platform, and website.
  • Design a style guide for our online learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with our learning experience design team and product manager to inform UX/UI design of new features
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams throughout the product life cycle to ensure designs are addressing needs.
  • Work closely with front-end engineers to implement UI solutions and ensure the technology fully executes on the vision.
  • Maintain overall platform UI quality and ongoing improvement across all features and experiences.

Relevant Experience and Mindset:

  • You’re a master of the UI/UX lifecycle with deep experience defining UX, visual design, user research, and design principles.
  • You have a professional portfolio with interaction and visual design experience across different experiences and platforms.
  • You’re aware of technology languages (Javascript, HTML/CSS, platform UIs, etc.)
  • You have a solid knowledge of Sketch, Invision, Basecamp, Leankit, github, etc
  • You’re up to date on trend/aesthetic/clean user focused design,
  • You have a strong sense of customer empathy and customer-centrism.
  • You’re interested in working in a fast-growing, fast-paced environment with changing responsibilities.
  • You understand that a job goes beyond a job description and are willing to lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.

Bonus Points

  • You have experience with Higher Education and/or learning related content or platforms.
  • You are mission-driven and excited to work with a team that is as well.

About the role:

  • Ideally a full time role, but open to part-time interest as well
  • Location: San Francisco, CA preferred, however open to strong candidates who would be remote
