University Prep, Principal

University Prep - Denver, Colorado - Full time

Building a foundation of skills, knowledge, and character, University Prep (U Prep) educates every K-5 scholar for a four-year college degree and life of opportunity. U Prep, founded in the 2011-12 school year, has been unwavering in its mission since the day its doors opened to its first campus with 100 kindergarten and first-grade scholars. Over a decade later, serving more than 600 children annually and with more than 500 alumni, U Prep continues its relentless drive towards achieving a future reality in which every child wakes up one day as an adult with genuine choice and limitless opportunity.

At U Prep, they’re doing things differently. Three major focus areas drive their work each day, ensuring they stay true to the promise they make to every one of their families – a genuine life of opportunity for their child:

  • Academics - Academic excellence for every child sits at the center of their work. U Prep offers all scholars challenging, college prep content, along with the support and encouragement necessary to master it. They believe every child will achieve greatness when they are equally challenged, supported, and loved.
  • Character - A focus on growing good students and good people is at the heart of their mission. U Prep knows that to succeed in life, scholars must have a strong and confident character. Their schools go beyond a foundation of academic skills and knowledge with the development of PREP values - Pride, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, and Perseverance.
  • Vision - You can only dream as far as you can see - U Prep makes sure all of their students see what’s truly possible. All children deserve a line of sight on the opportunities that live outside of their classrooms. Within U Prep’s K - 5 experience, scholars get to see a range of colleges and careers that will become their reality.

Joining University Prep as a Principal means continuing the work, alongside the team, families, and community, from the most critical leadership seat of all – the individual who directly leads a campus, ensuring adults and children alike, walk into a learning environment each and every day that propels them to their natural best. This is an excellent opportunity for a school leader who embodies the mission, vision, and values of U Prep and knows that achieving big dreams takes hard work and a team effort. The next Principal will live by the organizational definitions of Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism and the five core values that guide U Prep’s work together (Educate our Scholars, Serve our Families, Serve the Team, Walk the Walk, and My Child).   • Data and Goal Ownership: take full ownership of annual and long-term goals that focus on three major groups – children, staff, and families; analyze student achievement and behavioral data as well as teacher performance data and use the information to collaborate with leaders/staff on short- and long-term planning to enhance performance; ensure effective monitoring and support with plans put in action – driving towards identified priorities;
