About the PositionThe Technical Systems Manager will be primarily responsible for managing and implementing a Learning Management System for the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, a subset of over 260 schools. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in a national initiative that leverages technology in support of teaching and learning.

Responsibilities Manager for the VILS Connection and Learning Management System

  • Organize, upload, and maintain content for all VILS Learning Management systems
  • Experience with managing and implementing a Learning Management System for an organization
  • Experience in K12 or Higher Education Learning Design or Systems Implementation
  • Inform end users of changes in databases and train them to utilize systems
  • Ensure the security of VILS data
  • Run data and analytics for research and data team for all applicable platforms
  • Provide feedback and solutions for all content systems
  • Stay up to date on the newest developments and upgrades for all applicable platforms
  • Create and maintain systems and workflows to ensure that all course resources are properly set up and available
  • Utilize project management to ensure successful development/implementation of course tools within the LMS, including building-level apps, and LTI configurations
  • Coordinate with VILS content team to ensure efficient and effective resolution to course problems and trends by creating and maintaining system and process workflows
  • Track usage of tools and the learning management system features to provide reports on trends and creates and executes a plan to address those issues and trends
  • Facilitate the escalation of and resolution for issues connected to the learning management system and/or external tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience with Growth Engineering a plus
  • Knowledge of User Identity Database creation and maintenance
  • (Okta, OpenID, Active Directory, AWS)
  • Experience with multiple external vendors and tools
  • Background in instructional or educational technology
  • Applications Administrator experience
  • Proficiency with office productivity software
  • Troubleshooting Experience
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Experience providing training to faculty, staff, and students
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Advanced proficiency integrating external tools into the learning management system
  • Understanding of HTML/CSS/SQL
  • Knowledge of LTI, API and OAuth
  • Accountability
  • Prioritize effectively
  • Proactive Communication

Reporting

  • Coordinate with cross initiative teams to ensure metrics and reports are up to date (Data Analytics, IT, Communications) as necessary
  • Collect school-based data and generate reports on the progress of schools
  • Provide vital insights and reporting across the program for Verizon, Digital Promise, school leadership, and others.
  • Track progress of projects in Asana.
  • Assist with additional data collection as necessary

Initiative Implementation

  • Support Content and Training Team to plan and host virtual and in-person convenings for school leaders and teachers.
  • Work with team on process development and improvement
  • Connect with colleagues in other Digital Promise initiatives to share best practices.
  • Think, work and plan sequentially toward initiative outcomes, constantly managing multiple deadlines and needs of different stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
