About the PositionDigital Promise is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) initiative. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with Technical Project Directors and be an integral part of the team. They will provide guidance to a portfolio of district and school-level instructional and IT leaders for the planning and implementation of a 1:1, 24-7 learning environment. They will also assist in the compilation and distribution of technology-related best practices across the project and with the wider education community.

Our Technical Project Manager will work collaboratively with IT and professional learning teams, both at Digital Promise and in our schools. Experience teaching in a 1-1 school or working as school-based IT in a K-12 school or district environment is required. This position includes opportunities to conduct school visits and to actively partake in the development, planning, and implementation of a district’s technology vision to improve teaching and learning.


  • Direct Support of VILS Districts’ Technology Implementation (~85%)
    • Collaborate with Digital Promise staff and school leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for technology implementation.
    • Work with incoming school and district leaders on the creation and implementation of a project management plan that will address all components of technology readiness prior to rollout. Sample items include: inventory planning, mobile device management and filtering, and creation of school and district technology processes and policies.
    • Work as a collaborative member of a portfolio management team with Technical Project Directors and Associate Directors of Professional Learning to provide direct and indirect support to a portfolio of approximately 8 districts / 40 schools in the project.
    • Monitor, track and report progress on project benchmarks for all schools in your assigned portfolio
    • Manage project databases and keep district and school VILS information up-to-date.
  • Creating Resources for Dissemination on Best Practices (~15%)
    • Prepare briefing/meeting materials and reports.
    • Collaborate with team members to create resources of best practices to be shared within and beyond the project.
    • Present best practices to VILS participants and other involved audiences.


  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Commitment to creating and maintaining a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Direct professional experience working in K-12 public school districts preferred.
  • Experience with K-12 school technology systems, including mobile device deployment and management, network infrastructure, and web/content filtering strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience with large scope, multi-faceted projects.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with ability to anticipate challenges and plan for resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities independently on a daily basis, and execute effectively.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with colleagues and partners
  • Hungry, creative, self-starter, multi-tasker, team player; strong work ethic, high standards, integrity.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 20-25%).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
