About the PositionDigital Promise convenes the League of Innovative Schools, a network of forward-thinking school districts from around the country. This network of superintendents and school district leaders gathers at semi-annual meetings, works together in online professional learning communities, and collaborates on rapid-cycle R&D projects. Digital Promise is seeking a project manager to support technology initiatives in League districts, with a specific focus on data interoperability.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support school districts in technical implementations of data interoperability projects.
  • Spur collaborations between educators and vendors to identify mutual priorities to advance data interoperability.
  • Develop a comprehensive framework that helps school districts assess and implement data interoperability initiatives that align with their strategic goals.
  • Create a coherent set of tools and resources to support school districts in operationalizing the framework in their own context.
  • Design a professional learning curriculum to support technology staff at the school- and district-level build capacity for data literacy and data interoperability.
  • Facilitate a pilot series of workshops (online and in person) with technology leaders from around the country in the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Advocate for data interoperability broadly.

Qualifications

  • First-hand technical experience implementing data interoperability implementations including the implementation of data standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the landscape of data interoperability approaches in education (e.g. data standards including Ed-Fi and IMS Global).
  • Experience creating, implementing, or maintaining data warehouse, operational data stores, data marts, and data visualization tools.
    • Candidates will need to demonstrate their technical knowledge of Ed-Fi by creating a demonstration implementation.
  • Experience working in school systems or working closely with school systems.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects and maintaining clear, consistent communication around them.
  • Ability to communicate technical complexity to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to facilitate professional learning experiences online and in person.
  • Ability to travel for occasional conferences and meetings (estimate 10-20%).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A passion for education, a team mentality, creativity, and a positive “can-do” “yes-and” spirit.
