About the PositionDigital Promise is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support Verizon Innovative Learning schools (VILs). The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the Technical Project Directors and be an integral part of the team. He/She will provide direct technology support to districts and schools for the planning and implementation of a 1:1 environment and assist in the compilation and distribution of technology-related best practices across the project and with the wider education community. This position includes opportunities to conduct school visits, and actively partake in the development, planning, and implementation of ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Support of Technology Integration Efforts in VILs Districts (~60%)
    • Collaborate with Digital Promise staff, as well as district and school leadership to execute strategic plans for technology implementation.
    • Work with incoming school and district leaders on the creation and implementation of a project management plan that will address all components of technology readiness prior to rollout of student devices. Sample items include: inventory planning, mobile device management and filtering, and providing guidance on the creation of school and district technology policies.
    • Support the overall distribution and inventory of tablets in the program, and serve as the point of contact for IT departments from a portfolio of schools across the program.
    • Develop processes and content in a learning management system for managing project goals, including onboarding, deployment and reporting.
    • Assist schools in creating and implement school-based tech support plans and providing resolution to IT issues.
    • Utilize efficient project management systems for tracking and analyzing device incidents.
    • Provide direct and indirect support of the schools in the project under the direction of the Technical Project Directors.
  • Assist with Creating Resources on Best Practices (~25%)
    • Contribute to briefing/meeting materials and reports for funders.
    • Collaborate with Verizon Innovative Learning schools team to create resources for best practices to be shared within and beyond the project.
    • Contribute to monthly IT meetings, rollout webinars, and convenings for school and district engagement.
  • Non-IT Project Management (~15%)
    • Assist in selection, and onboarding of incoming districts for each cohort.
    • Track and report progress on project standards for district contacts, school leaders, and coaches across the project.
    • Manage project database and keep information up-to-date.
    • Manage technical support helpdesk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, as well as 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Direct experience and/or strong interest in education.
  • Experience with school technology systems, learning management systems, mobile device management, and web/content filtering strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience with multi-faceted projects.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with ability to anticipate challenges and plan for resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities independently on a daily basis, and execute effectively.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with external and internal relationship management.
  • Hungry, creative, self-starter, multi-tasker, team player; strong work ethic, high standards, integrity.
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 20-25%).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for education, a team mentality, creativity, and a positive “can-do” “yes-and” spirit.
