The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality technical products that meet the requirements of the Springboard Collaborative offerings it supports with data fidelity in a robust, user-friendly, and accessible manner.

Springboard Collaborative closes the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. We coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by 4th grade. Springboard envisions a world in which all children have the requisite literacy skills to access life opportunities. The Technical Product Manager supports this goal by ensuring the excellence of our technical products that help educators run effective programs and allows students and families to progress through their assignments and goals smoothly.

The Technical Product Manager will supervise the Product Owner. The Technical Product Manager will report to the VP of Engineering, Systems, and Products and work as part of the Engineering, Systems, and Product Team. Here are your priorities in the first year:

  • You will ensure product quality and on-time delivery by working with the QA Lead, Scrum Master, and Development team.
  • Through stakeholder interviews, you will objectively assess product usability, functionality, and quality making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • You will define and follow the roadmaps for our apps, gathering requirements from users and constituent stakeholders.
  • You will help define the next generation of product applications through user research and prototyping.
  • You will generate analytics reports based upon Google Analytics and KISSMetrics data and use that data to lead analytics enhancements for our products.

Here are your responsibilities within and beyond the first year:

  • You will lead development of new initiatives, features and Enablers
    • Facilitate iterative stakeholder conversations
    • Draft business requirements, including ROI
    • Draft requirements specs that define features of the initiative
    • Vet with engineering team, stakeholders and refine
    • Publish requirements documents (narrative and PPT)
    • Define features, scope work, vet and refine at feature level
    • Review epics and stories
  • You will regularly complete backlog grooming in order to plan and prioritize
    • Liaise with IST to ensure that Program offerings & Product are in lock-step
    • Consistently groom & refine the backlog to ensure we’re focusing on the right things at the right times
    • Manage the Connect roadmap to timelines
  • You will deliver ongoing Connect product improvements via feedback and data
    • Conduct user interviews in order to mine for improvements
    • Use survey feedback to find themes and potential improvements
    • Mine for ways to reduce cost & complexity across platforms
    • Utilize engagement data to justify changes in UX, UI
  • You will collaborate and communicate inter- and intra- departmentally
    • Collaborate with the Product team, Salesforce Team, and ESPT at large
    • Understand and support the needs of IST, PST, PT, and Seasonal Staff
    • Partner with Business Strategy, Partnerships team on business modeling, marketing
    • Work with the Partner Success team to increase product utilization
    • Create or support creation of product documentation for inter- and intra- department collaboration
  • You will lead and support certain Product Team members
    • Hire, upskill, and retain top talent to the product team
    • Liaise with engineering team so that we have a clear, collaborative vision
    • Manage Product Owners to meet their goals

Here are requirements we expect the right candidate to have:

  • Deep understanding of tech-related products
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Word, Excel, Google Suite) and ability to learn new systems
  • Agile, product design, and/or project management certification

It would also be nice if you had:

  • Work experience in a school setting

Compensation for this role: Each role at Springboard is placed in a compensation band with 5 levels. Generally, we expect all candidates that meet the hiring criteria to be offered the midpoint of the band. This role sits within Band 5. The midpoint of this band is $114,093. The actual level of the successful candidate (and corresponding salary) will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, and other factors. You may also be eligible for Springboard's collective bonus program.

Our process to determine compensation: Springboard does not negotiate the offered salary during the offer conversation. Throughout the interview process, we will evaluate your alignment with the compensable factors listed in the job description. From there, we will determine your starting salary on a level within the job band.
