Position Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the on-time and on-spec delivery of products and projects completed by members of the Technology Team and cross-functional collaborators from across the College staff.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are required to isolate problems, recommend solutions, and implement solutions. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

This position is funded via one-time funds appropriated in Section 2.00 of the Budget Act of 2018 to support the college’s start-up costs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work:

• Organize and participate in meetings to understand gaps and identify process flow improvement opportunities; facilitate conversations with key stakeholders across the college about business process optimization best-practices

• Serve as a liaison between cross-functional workgroups and the technology team, collecting project requirements, communicating needs, and working collaboratively to develop

• Create and own product roadmap outlining key deliverables and timelines

• Prioritize, groom, manage user story lifecycle and product backlog

• Oversee and evaluate progress at each stage of development

• Utilize student and stakeholder feedback, market research, and industry data to inform product technology strategies.

• Perform process management functions that include data gathering and analysis, best practice research, process mapping, developing and recommending alternatives for improvement, developing performance metrics, and obtaining leadership or stakeholder agreement.

• Monitor and notify departments of the impact of significant data processing or technology events or issues.

• Provide expertise to departments by assisting with business process design enhancements

• Implement, and tune business processes across all functional areas of the college

• Participate in the management of technology project lifecycles, including, but not limited to, planning, requirements gathering and definitions, analysis and design, development, testing, deployment, and verification.

• Provide systems analysis and problem solving support to deliver efficient and effective use of applications and other enterprise solutions in support of institutional goals and objectives

• Monitor and frequently report on project status, health, and key issues while ensuring information is easily understandable, actionable, supports effective decision making and builds trust with sponsors and stakeholders.

• Performs other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze business needs, user requirements, and technical constraints, and to identify ways in which software or web design, development and application of technology and systems can support business needs.

• Process-obsessed but tool-agnostic.

• Demonstrated effective writing and communication skills.

• Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner

• Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, staff and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training required.

• 3+ years of professional experience in a Product Management role

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Agile methodologies, including working within a sprint framework

• Experience working in fast-paced, early-stage environments is a plus

• Experience working with Asana, Zapier, G Suite, and integrations with ERP/SIS/LMS is a plus

• Experience with Salesforce, AWS, Azure, PowerBI, scripting languages, SQL is a plus

• Experience with Salesforce process automation technologies (Approvals, Flows, etc) is a plus

Working Conditions and Travel

• Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

• Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature.
