The Technical Advisor II, Educational Technology plays a technical leadership role across IREX, contributing primarily to the design and delivery of basic and higher education programs that integrate educational technology to improve student learning outcomes. The Technical Advisor II plans and carries out assessments of ICT needs at the system and institutional levels, designs and delivers educator and other adult professional development on ICT and supports the design of student-facing instructional content. They also serve as a technical resource on major trends in educational technology and digital development.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field
  • 10+ years of progressive job experience
  • Experience designing and implementing programs that integrate educational technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Experience designing and delivering educator/other adult professional development on educational technology
  • Experience designing student-facing instructional content
  • Experience supporting educational institutions (basic and/or higher education) to assess educational technology needs/use and make improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to make systems-level recommendations and reforms to improve learning outcomes with the use of educational technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively about educational technology to non-experts
  • Knowledge of major trends in educational technology and digital development
  • Knowledge and experience in educational technology for inclusive education is preferred.
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Plan and carry out the development of technical products including ICT need assessments, educator and other adult professional development on ICT, curriculum design of student-facing instructional content, and research/ analysis related to educational technology.
  • Create and contribute to project workplans.
  • Serve as a primary subject matter expert on educational technology at IREX and a technical resource for the Education Practice portfolio and for related projects across IREX practices and units.
  • Represent IREX’s experience and learning related to educational technology externally, for example through conference presentations, participation in working groups, and authorship of insights pieces and reports.
  • Develop cost analysis and budget projections for educational technology interventions.
  • Coach and support staff to develop their ability to design and carry out effective educational technology intervention.
  • Support the design of professional development for staff that may include educational technology needs assessment, instructional design, ICT for inclusive education.
