On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K-12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers.Swing Education is focused on taking on the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network.Swing is a revenue generating, Series B, YC company (through ImagineK12).

The Position:

As Regional Growth Manager, Talent you will be an essential part of the growth of the Swing Education marketplace by building a quality pool of satisfied and motivated teachers for a territory. You will innovate on current strategies to expertly scale our conversion, onboarding, activation and support of substitute teachers. This will include conceiving, planning and executing projects that help meet or exceed our goals in new and existing regions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting schools and teachers and brings an analytical and persistent approach to the challenges presented by growing at scale.You will report to the Director of Talent and will work cross functionally within your region with Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, and the General Manager to ensure we meet the needs of our partner schools. We are expanding quickly and need someone who thinks creatively, iterates quickly, and is willing to lead the projects and experiments that will help us exceed the expectations of subs and schools in your market.

Responsibilities:

Substitute pipeline and onboarding

  • Improve upon current onboarding process to increase conversion and activation rates while reducing customer acquisition costs.
  • Utilize data on onboarding speed, activation rates, and engagement to influence product development and inform regional strategy.
  • Expand regional applicant pipeline through career fairs, conferences, and recruiting sessions.
  • Offer a quality onboarding experience and maintain a high level of customer service for both prospective and current substitute teachers.
  • Identify potential regional partnerships to increase the number of quality leads and resources for onboarded substitutes at scale.

Substitute engagement and retention

  • Experiment with new strategies to optimize the experience and retention of subs - including articulating experiment goals, success criteria and other potential impacts.
  • Collaborate with regional team members, including sales and General Managers, to ensure positive customer service experience for teachers and schools.
  • Coordinate regional events promoting sub happiness and development.

Regional leadership and support

  • Refine and monitor regional growth targets and success metrics for Talent and align Talent goals/metrics with Sales pipeline.
  • Use sub pipeline and conversion data to identify issues in the talent onboarding process and create and execute on plans to address the issues.
  • Develop regional processes and infrastructure to start new markets including resources to navigate background checks and state substitute requirements.
  • Improve the quality of substitute pool by monitoring sub feedback process and sharing school’s feedback with subs to improve performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, and 3-5 years of work experience.
  • Proven ability to think analytically and use data to inform strategy and solve complex problems.
  • Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial style, eager to take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding time management skills, able to understand and prioritize different activities, detail-orientation, multi-task, accomplishing numerous tasks and changing priorities in an effective and timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in engaging varied pipelines of teachers and working with teams from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in education, project management, or recruiting preferred.
