About the Role

The New Classrooms (NC) Talent team engages, delivers, develops, and retains a diverse team of high caliber, mission driven people to enable New Classrooms to meet our objectives, realize our mission, and embody our values. The remit for the growing Talent team is highly ambitious--we own and drive recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, compensation, team culture, diversity and inclusion, and performance management as well as contributing to organizational design, internal communications and governance.

Talent leverages our creativity, tenacity and an entrepreneurial spirit to envision and execute the appropriate levels of support, process and structure for all levels of Talent responsibilities. The Talent Associate will lead recruitment for a range of org-roles while also supporting hiring managers in making critical decisions. Reporting to the Director of Talent, the Talent Associate will also support the larger Talent function on projects and culture initiatives. Successful candidates for this role will be highly execution-oriented, resourceful, and smart and will bring to the table an entrepreneurial recruiter’s tool-kit and a desire to think through and contribute to the full cycle of talent development at a growing non-profit.

What You Would Do

  • Manage your own recruitment portfolio and provide support to the Director of Talent’s recruitment portfolio including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring team coordination
  • Manage and track all open position advertising including sourcing websites, LinkedIn, and newsletters
    • Identify new venues (including social media, partnerships etc.) for getting the word out about opportunities at New Classrooms
    • Maintain the advertising budget including updating appropriate spreadsheets to track expenses
  • Play a critical role in securing and maintaining data systems
  • Provide calendar support to the Senior Director of Talent and the Director of Talent including the scheduling of meetings and interviews with multiple parties
  • Create and drive an optimal onboarding process at New Classrooms by partnering with Business Operations and hiring managers to ensure that all new hires:
    • are warmly welcomed into the organization and onto their team
    • are appropriately inducted into the NC way of working and being
    • have a vision for what success looks like for their role
    • have an understanding of NC’s mission, structure and program (TTO Math)
  • Own the logistics planning and execution of all team events including monthly team meetings, bi-annual all team “conferences” and various social gatherings and partner with the head of Talent to contribute to the program design of these events
  • Serve as an ambassador for New Classrooms at partnership and recruitment events
    • Attend events and maintain relationships with key candidates and organizations to build hiring pipeline
  • Develop and maintain Talent communications to both external and internal audiences
  • Assist with/drive special projects as required/able

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in education or recruitment highly preferred
  • Able to effectively identify, prioritize, and meet the demands of a dynamic workflow
  • Technically minded and curious, preferably with strong generalist skills across platforms/systems
  • A strong operator who can get things done and is willing to contribute at a variety of levels across two diverse work streams
  • Highly attuned to detail and extremely organized
  • Works well under pressure
  • Optimistic and enthusiastic with strong desire for personal development and feedback
  • Effective, compelling communication skills – written and verbal (writing samples required)
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse team members and candidates at every level
  • Strong desire to work in a highly collaborative, dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
  • Demonstrated strong interest in education technology or education reform required
