Enrichment Specialists create diverse learning experiencesthat focus on, but are not limited to, physical activity, artistic,cultural or STEM activities for students in grades K to 5 tocontinue their learning and development over the summer. Previousenrichment activities offered include Karate, Hip-Hop Dance, SlamPoetry, and Art Club. Specialists deliver 45 to 75 minute-longsessions to teams of 18-20 students in grades K-5, supported by twoYouth Workers.Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver curricula for enrichment activities that arealigned to the DREAM curriculum and program model;
  • Collaborate with Youth Workers and Program Manager to provide acohesive and fun experience for youth;
  • Embed literacy throughout all instruction;
  • Prepare all materials before activities begin and facilitate athorough clean up afterwards;
  • Encourage youth to positively participate in activities;
  • Serve as a role model while demonstrating professionalbehavior;
  • Implement all health and safety protocols as required,including ensuring child safety and responding appropriately to anyincidents;
  • Note: Enrichment activities that require materials/resourceswill be given a conservative budget on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degreeor certification in related field preferred;
  • 2+ years of experience working with groups of youth, or similarexperience required;
  • Ability to independently plan and implement lessons;
  • Clear passion for and detailed knowledge of specialtyarea;
  • Understanding of effective youth development strategies andconflict resolution;
  • Exemplary social, organizational, and communicationskills;
  • Dedication to the program and ability to collaborate withcolleagues to ensure a positive, productive youth experience;
  • A commitment to DREAM's mission, including the belief that allstudents can achieve at high levels.

Commitment:

  • Start date: June 28, 2023
  • End date: August 4, 2023
  • Days & hours: Monday-Thursday, 12:45pm-4:45pm

Location:

  • Placements available in East Harlem and the South Bronx.

Compensation:

  • DREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate withrelevant experience with the potential for a seasonal increase. Thehourly rate for this position for incoming staff is between $25 and$30. New hires receive an offer within the range based on relevantexperience, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for therole.
