Student Projects Coordinator

We are currently a remote team of ten looking for an additional full-time member. As the Student Projects Coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring student project success. You will be interviewing incoming applicants, helping them brainstorm project ideas, providing resources and support for students’ active projects, and connecting with alumni after the program. In joining Polygence, you will become part of a lean, fast-moving remote-first team that is biased toward action and spares no time or effort to make this an extraordinary experience for both students and mentors.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot student-mentor pairs where communication is stalled (including phone calls, texting, emailing)
  • Liaise with our mentoring team to facilitate student-mentor communication
  • Interview and evaluate applicants to learn more about their general interests and project ideas
  • Host informational webinars for prospective students
  • Coordinate regular programming for students throughout the summer
  • Meet with students one-on-one on a regular basis to facilitate logistics of their projects (publication submissions, procurement of materials etc.)

Qualifications

  • 3+ years working with high school students, or equivalent
  • STEM background: computer science, neuroscience, biology, physics, etc.
  • Exceptional people & social skills
  • Strong understanding of student executive functions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong English writing & communication skills; concision is key
  • Undergraduate degree from the US (preferred)
