Type: Full-time

Relay Graduate School of Education seeks an experienced Student Information System (SIS) Architect to direct the strategy and vision for our SIS and related platforms. Reporting to the Senior Director of Technology, the SIS Architect will take charge of our current suite of SIS solutions, lead our search and implementation for a new SIS, direct all aspects of the platform lifecycle, and ensure high-quality delivery of all SIS services with the best possible experience to all stakeholders (students, staff, and faculty).

This is a brand-new role, and a chance to join a growing, equity-focused, and remote-friendly Technology Team at a new institution of higher education. The SIS Architect will lead our SIS product operations team to perform complex evaluation, analysis, and design of SIS solutions that ensure Relay’s SIS platforms, architecture, and integrations are aligned and consistent with institutional strategic objectives and goals. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative, and collaborative, with a sophisticated ability to work with and inspire other leaders and stakeholders across the institution.

  • Partner with the ERP Architect and other colleagues to develop and publish internal guidelines and standards for product implementations
  • Acquire and maintain expert knowledge of our SIS platforms through ongoing training and engagement within the relevant communities

  • Lead the Solution Delivery process for our current SIS suite: homegrown core SIS, admissions CRM Technolutions Slate, student portal, and other related platforms, working closely with the Senior Director of Student Systems Strategy
  • Oversee the complete SIS product and technical lifecycle, including but not limited to: initial solution discovery and exploration; portfolio management; design, build, test, and launch activities; integration with other solutions; ongoing product support and enhancement plans
  • Closely align the product lifecycle with the student lifecycle, in concert with the Office of Student Services
  • Ensure all solutions are delivered with a high degree of equity, empathy, and fiscal responsibility
  • Develop sunset and retirement plans for our legacy applications

New Vendor SIS Implementation

  • Serve as the primary Technology Team visionary for the implementation of our new vendor-provided SIS
  • Develop tight alignment between the current SIS suite and the new one, noting gaps and setting expectations; ensure continuity of service such that all current SIS workflows and integrations have matches in the new SIS
  • Ensure all technical decisions made during the implementation align with our team and institutional goals and strategy
  • Oversee data migration efforts to the new SIS from the current SIS
  • Put student equity and inclusion, especially around accessible technology, at the forefront of the technical implementation

Manage the SIS Product Operations Team

  • Directly manage a team of technical product operations team members
  • Set and manage to institutional, individual, and team goals using appropriate measures and metrics
  • In partnership with the Senior Directors of Technology and the Chief Information Officer, serve as a team leader on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion; model thoughtful self-reflection, interrupting microaggressions, and accepting interruptions gracefully

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5+ years experience working with large ERP/SIS software platforms in higher education (e.g. Banner, Jenzabar, PeopleSoft, Workday)
  • 2+ years experience managing and developing a team of multiple direct reports
  • Demonstrable experience scoping large-scale projects and successfully executing against project plans
  • Proven history of delivering effective technology solutions with a mix of different platforms and services, working cross-functionally with a diverse set of stakeholders
